The 2020 G2 Vineyard should certainly be outstanding. Based on 91% Syrah, 6% Graciano, and the rest Mourvèdre, it has lots of black fruits, ground pepper, and graphite notes in a masculine, full-bodied, chocolaty style.

The 2021 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is lifted with cedar, red cherry, and pine. The palate fills with grenadine and orange peel, soft, stony earth, and a silky texture. Drink over the next 7-8 years.

Founded by Dan Kosta and Michael Browne in 2001, today Kosta Browne is a part of the Duckhorn portfolio of wines. Winemaker Julien Howsepian, who has taken over from Nico Cueva, has been involved with the winery since 2012, when he had worked a harvest and subsequently became a full-time member of the team, working alongside Michael and Nico. Though the wines are still expressive of a full style, there has been some dialing back on ripeness over the past several years. Their reach has expanded in terms of regionality, but they continue to work exclusively with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

The color is ruby red. The very airy nose exudes charming aromas of blackberries, cherry stones and spices with some notes of mocha. On the palate, this elegant and fresh wine reveals a beautiful silky structure!

ORIGIN

Between Beaune and Volnay are the vast vineyards of Pommard, extending out on either side of a monumental coomb. This gives rise to two types of wine: from vines grown on the hill on the Beaune side, and from those originating in the slopes and ‘plunging’ down towards Volnay.

This wine is a blend of two opposite plots: 50 % « En brescul », Beaune side and 50% « la Combotte » Volnay side. - « En Brescul » is located up the hill and very steep slope. This funny name, diminutive of "Straighten-ass" refers to the heavily leaned position of the vine growers working in these steep plots.
« la Combotte » : Located below the "Vaumuriens" at the bottom of the hill, this climate presents a hollow relief . The name refers to the combe.

Burstin with expressive flavors of watermelon and honeysuckle layered with notes of raspberry, cranberry, and a touch of rhubarb, this French rose comes in a handy 250 ml, 1/3 the size of a full 750 ml bottle of wine.

The color is brilliant garnet red. The complex nose exudes intense aromas of peonies and jammy red fruits. On the palate, this gourmet and rather structured wine reveals a slightly spicy finish.

ORIGIN

Savigny’s vineyards form a V-shape and are located at the meeting place of a valley and the plain, offering some of the most picturesque scenery in the Côte d’Or. These vineyards are of ancient lineage. For much of their history, they belonged to the domaine of the Dukes of Bourgogne, to neighbouring religious houses, or to the Knights of Malta. An imposing 14th century castle testifies to the appellation's aristocratic qualifications.
Located on the hillside below the Chenôve Woods to the east of the village, the plot "Aux Guettes" is facing due south. The soil is quite complex: mixture of limestone pebbles, scree and clay. This is one of the most famous climates of the appellation.
The name "Guettes" has its origin in the verb "watch". The name thus indicated the places in altitude where one could supervise the country and the roads.

Unique in its compositition, not many rosses are made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and merlot. With intese aromas of strwaberries, white peach, raspberry, and floral aromas bursting fromt the glass, the palate is a bit richer, but is balanced by bright acidity. 

This beautifully sophisticated Zinfandel is for the serious wine drinker. It has florid notes of wildflower, anise, white pepper, and blackberry. Lamborn Zin is bursting with life and vibrancy. The palate is plush and silky smooth with lingering minerality, tart charry, and plum. Only 900 cases produced!

The destiny of this vineyard, a gift from the emperor Charlemagne to the Canons of the Collegiate of Saint-Andoche at Saulieu, in 775, was truly exceptional in that it remained in the hands of this religious community for over 1000 years. Chardonnay reigns supreme. On its journey across the palate it is elevated and accomplished, with body and bouquet melting together superbly. Smooth and dry, firm yet gentle, deep and structured, this is a wine of undeniable character and grace.

ORIGIN

The Aloxe-Corton appellation covers 119 ha on the territory of the town of Aloxe-Corton and 8.5 ha on that of Ladoix-Serrigny, at the beginning of the Côte de Beaune. Nearly half of the vineyard area is classified as Grand Cru and no less than 17 classified Premier Cru. There are two types: those located on the Pernand-Vergelesses side and for the one that interests us The Valozières bordering the Grands Crus from below: the exhibition is perfect in the east, the land is quite heavy and deep giving wines a character structured and powerful. "Valozières" refers to the wicker that grew there.

History

The bouquet on this 2017 is truly stunning; it’s ripe yet fresh and savory. Aromas of barrel spice, mineral tones, and crunchy berries flow off the rim. TASTING NOTES

This wine has an intense ruby ​​color. It offers a palette of complex aromas: red fruits and fresh black fruits, some spicy and tobacco notes. The tannins are fine on the palate. This wine is fresh and well structured.

ORIGIN

The vineyards of Beaune are unique in that out of approximately 400 ha of vines under production, over 300 ha are classified as Premier Cru. The appellation is divided into two parts, north and south, which are separated by a division marked by the road that goes from Beaune up to Bouze-Lès-Beaune.

'Les Avaux' is located on the gentle slope of La Montagne, below Champ Pimont.
This name can be compared to downstream and then means that this plot is on the "lower part of a valley".
The grapes selected from this cuvée are certified Ecocert.

The colour is garnet red. The nose is very expressive and charming with intense aromas of small black fruits and peppery notes. On the palate, this wine is a bit austere in its youth but has a more square substance and a spicy finish. Good ageing potential!

This appellation is one of the smallest and most parcelled out of the Côte with only 97 ha of Village appellation vines, 50 ha of Premiers Crus and 25 ha of Grands Crus. The terroirs of Chambolle-Musigny are rather homogenous and enjoy eastern exposure. The delicate silkiness of its wines stems directly from the soil type.
This term 'Charmes' is used in Burgundy to designate poor vegetation plateaux, uncultivated or fallow land.Formerly there were many plots not worked by their owner because they were very stony and difficult to cultivate.

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Hillside Select is another perfect wine, although readers will need to have patience, as it’s still a baby. Deep purple-hued with a perfumed, vibrant bouquet of blue fruits, graphite, spring flowers, and lead pencil, it’s full-bodied, sensationally concentrated, has perfectly integrated acidity, tannin, and alcohol, not a hard edge to be found, and an incredible finish. This monumental Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is 7-8 years away from maturity and will have 40-50 years of overall longevity.

TASTING NOTES

The color is dark ruby ​​red. The intense nose exudes aromas of fruit such as blackcurrant and blackberry, with some notes of violets. On the palate, this supple and elegant wine is supported by silky tannins.

ORIGIN

Between Beaune and Volnay extends the vast vineyard of Pommard which unfolds on each side of a monumental combe.
The plot "Les Arvelets" is located at the exit of this valley on the north slope. Exposed south with a clay-limestone soil rich in iron oxide covered with alluvium and silt, this premier cru is the steepest of the appellation.
The Latin roots of the word "arvelet" refer to the presence of old fields, plowing land at this location.

With its beautiful pale yellow color with golden reflections, this wine reveals aromas of fresh citrus fruits, lemon zest, white flowers and some smoky notes. The palate is slightly salty, with a little fat and a salivating finish.

Beaune is the winegrowing capital of the region and has played an important role in Burgundian history.  The vine, from very fine stock, producing low yields. The soil is essentially on marl-limestone rock, quite light soil allowing for the wine to evolve with great finesse.

TASTING NOTES

The color is golden yellow. The nose will seduce you with its aromas of lemon, acacia, associated with subtly honeyed and smoky notes. On the palate, the wine is charming and very elegant!

Origin

With nearly 400 ha of vines Meursault stands out as one of Burgundy’s key appellations. Its vineyards almost always face east and cover gentle slopes. From among the approximately thirty vineyards that enjoy a prime location on the slope, some are known for their exceptional white “Villages” wines, such as Le Limozin which is a fine example with wines that often boast more substance than a Premier Cru.
"Limozin" is a very good example because it reveals as much, if not more, consistency than a Premier Cru. It is also nestled between two prestigious climates classified as premier cru "Les Genevrières" and "Les Charmes".

As is often the case in Burgundy, the vineyard names often refer to a geographical feature. “Limozin” refers to a stream that once flowed alongside the vineyard.
